Phase 2The second project (Phase II) of the major reconstruction of SR 8 in northern Summit County will extend from a location just south of Twinsburg Road to SR 303, and will include the elimination of the at-grade intersections at Hines Hill and Boston Mills roads. This $81 million project will re-establish access to local roads through several ramps and a frontage road will be built to facilitate access to SR 8. This section will also include modifications to the I-80 (Ohio Turnpike) interchange.

This phase has been awarded to Kenmore Construction of Akron. Preliminary work has begun on the SR 8 bridges over the Ohio Turnpike. Phase II is a three-year construction project beginning winter 2008 and ending fall 2011.

A temporary run-around at Boston Mills Road and the extension of Chittenden Road will be constructed first in order to provide motorists with access to and from SR 8 during construction. While the final improvements will eliminate the at-grade crossings at Hines Hill and Boston Mills roads, a new frontage road will be built for access to and from Hines Hill Road.
